Why Teach?
Teaching for me has always been more than just learning. It is about creating a comfortable and productive environment for the classroom as a whole. Obviously this is produced from my perspective as a student, but this is how some of my favorite teachers have operated their classrooms and it will be how I hope to envision myself as a teacher one day. My favorite experiences in school have always resulted from the classes and teachers that had the most student cooperation. I mean who else really remembers their solo projects compared to the ones done in a group. School has always been fun for me and I can attribute that to my perpetual curiosity in how the school system works as a seamlessly well oiled ecosystem as well as my affinity for all science courses I have ever taken. Science has always fascinated me because it answers all of those "why?" and "how?" questions and ultimately fuels that curiosity tank I mentioned. I first knew I wanted to be a teacher solely from how much fun I had in all of my science classes that I have taken over the years and that was backed by my desire to help others.
Alongside my future plans to become a coach, the impact that the school system has had on me adds to the reasons I want to give back to education and hope to become one of those teachers that can bring so much inspiration to youth and at the least create a comfortable environment for all students. I plan on starting my teaching career at the middle school level and later moving up to high school hoping that getting a more broad grade level exposure will aid in my ability to teach. I have recently become a father so my viewpoint on being a teacher has taken a whole new role. My responsibility to teach and promote curiosity has become especially important and I hope that it will one day carry over into my career.
Thanks for reading my first blog and I hope you'll enjoy the ones that follow.
